Geely Auto has officially rolled out the Galaxy Starship 7 1308 (badged as Starray EM-i in Australia and New Zealand, EX5 EM-i in Mexico) to the global market, marking a significant step in the brand’s new energy vehicle (NEV) expansion strategy. Following its successful launch at the Guangzhou Auto Show, the plug-in hybrid SUV has already begun large-scale shipments to Europe and Russia, with 1,145 units recently clearing customs from Taizhou Free Trade Zone for European markets alone.

At the heart of the Starship 7 1308’s appeal is its exceptional powertrain. Built on Geely’s GEA global new energy architecture, it features the next-generation Thor AI Hybrid 2.0 system, pairing a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine with a high-performance electric motor. The engine boasts a world-leading thermal efficiency of 46.5%, delivering 82kW of power, while the motor contributes 160kW and 262N·m of torque. This combination enables a 0-100km/h acceleration of 7.5 seconds, a CLTC pure electric range of 130km, and an ultra-low fuel consumption of 3.75L/100km in hybrid mode, with a combined range exceeding 1,420km.
Intelligent features further elevate its competitiveness. The SUV comes standard with the Galaxy Flyme Auto infotainment system, powered by the Longying No.1 chip, supporting multi-screen interaction and four-zone voice control. The Qianli Haohan H3 advanced driver assistance system, equipped with 3 millimeter-wave radars, 11 HD cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors, enables highway NOA and full-scene automatic parking – features rarely seen in its price range. Interior highlights include a 15.4-inch 2.5K central touchscreen, 16-speaker Flyme Sound audio system, and heated/ventilated seats with 14-point massage function.
Pricing strategy has become a key market driver. With a limited-time starting price of only RMB 95,800 (after subsidies), the Starship 7 1308 undercuts competitors in major global markets. In Mexico, it has already claimed the title of the most affordable PHEV, while in Australia and New Zealand, it launched in August-September 2025 with strong pre-order momentum. Geely’s efficient export network, supported by Taizhou Free Trade Zone’s “advance declaration” and “customs clearance on demand” policies, reduces logistics costs by 30% and ensures timely deliveries.
“We target 60,000 units of new energy vehicle exports next year, doubling current volumes,” said a Geely representative. For global distributors and consumers, the Starship 7 1308 represents a new benchmark for value, performance, and intelligence in the compact PHEV SUV segment.
